I would like to ask for your support in a matter that’s important and close to my heart. This July 12th, 13th and 14th, I am participating in an event called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. The event is a 60-mile walk that takes place over a 3-day period. This year, Avon is sponsoring thirteen 3-day walks throughout the United States, and I’ve chosen to be part of the San Jose to San Francisco walk. That’s seventy-two hours and 60 miles that I’m committing myself to endure for this cause. Please help me to reach my goal of raising a minimum of $1,900 by June 14th.
As I said before, this is a matter that’s close to my heart. Last May, I had a total of three lumps removed from both of my breasts - the largest measured one inch across. Since breast cancer is generally thought to be a disease that strikes older women, it was very scary to think that at 25-years old, I could be a victim. Thankfully, it turned out that it was not cancer. Did you know that 1 in every 8 women will get breast cancer sometime or another during her life? I, along with about 3,000 other walkers are raising money to help women detect breast cancer sooner, which can lead to a better chance of survival. There are over 1 million women in the U.S. living with breast cancer and they don’t even know it. 40,000 of those women will die this year alone. Men can get breast cancer too. Every year, about 1,500 men will be diagnosed with the disease. I am asking you to join me in my walk, and my fight against breast cancer by making a tax-deductible donation. Would you consider making a substantial donation of $150, $250 or more?
Your generous donation would help fund cancer centers, medical centers, service organizations and breast health programs nationwide. The programs focus on medically underserved women who otherwise would not have access to medical care. The Avon Breast Cancer 3-day provides much more than just money and medical services to those who need it. It provides inspiration and a sense of hope. The 3-day itself is an example of kindness that can change people forever. You and I together can save lives.
